Responsible Wool Standard

We’ve been making wool rugs since 1994. Wool is the perfect rug fiber in so many ways – not only is it soft, warm, and durable, it’s also naturally stain-repellent and fire-resistant. Even better, it’s a natural, renewable fiber.

But it’s important to us to be sure that our wool is not only renewable, but responsible. Certain conventional wool farming practices can be painful or harmful to the sheep, or deplete the land they graze on.

We’ve always asked our factories to source the yarns for our rugs as ethically as possible, but in today’s fast-paced global supply chain, it can be hard to verify the accuracy of product claims.

That’s why we chose to get certified to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). This standard was established by the global non-profit organization Textile Exchange to verify ethical treatment of animals and sustainable farming practices. Products certified to the Responsible Wool Standard are tracked from farm to final product, to ensure the chain of custody is maintained.
